After more than two years, China reopens to foreign students. From January 8th, 2023, all travelers, whether they are vaccinated or not, are suggested to take one PCR test within 48 hours before departure and only board the flight when their nucleic acid result is negative. There is no need to apply for a health code anymore. If you travel to China via a third country, you can take one PCR test at either your departure airport or city.
- 1. Make sure you have permission to enter China (valid permit, visa, or ID card).
- 2. Book a flight to China (taking direct flights or transferring to China is allowed).
- 3. Do one PCR test within 48 hours before departure and only board the flight when your nucleic acid result is negtive.
- 4. Board the plane. Prepare your ID card or passport with a permit/visa.
International students can return to China anytime provided their university approves of it. Returnees should expect to be subject to rigorous health screenings and any other precautionary measures deemed necessary by the Chinese authorities. International students who plan to return must keep a close eye on their own health as well as any public health warnings issued by the Chinese government. Returnees should also practice social distancing, wear masks in public places and frequently wash their hands with soap and water. Additionally, they should stay informed on the latest COVID-19 policies within China, such as travel restrictions and the availability of testing services.
