China will cancel inbound quarantine for international arrivals and vows to orderly resume Chinese citizens’ outbound travel as part of an overall plan to downgrade the country’s COVID-19 management from January 8 of 2023. The processing and approval of visas and residence permits for foreigners will resume and can be expedited according to the needs of the applicants.
The ministry also said that it will further optimize arrangements for foreigners returning to China for work resumption, business, study, family visits, and reunions, and provide visa facilities accordingly. Services related to the application for ordinary visas, stay permits, and residence permits by foreigners will be resumed, the notice said, adding that expedited procedures may be applied for in case of urgent need. The resumed services will also include issuing port visas, implementing the 24/72/144-hour visa-free transit policy, and issuing temporary entry permits, according to the notice.
