NMC has released a notice regarding the recognition status of online medical courses offered in China. Taking cognizance of some universities in China issuing notices for admission to MBBS programs for the current and upcoming academic years, the National Medical Council has issued a statement regarding admission to these courses.
“ It has come to the notice of the Ministry of External Affairs, Govt. Of India, a few universities in the People’s Republic of China have started issuing notices for admission to MBBS programs for the current and upcoming academic years.”
Concerning the online classes being offered, the NMC notice read, “As per extant rules, National Medical Commission does not recognize or approve medical courses done only by online mode.”
It further urged students to read the FMGE Regulations before applying to or seeking admission to Chinese or foreign universities. Students are advised to exercise due diligence in choosing where to pursue medical education.
Since the epidemic outbreak, more than 60% of international students have changed their plans to study in China.
